Obituary for Catherine Pomerleau (Edwards)

Pomerleau, Catherine (née Edwards) 1962 – 2022

The incredible life of Catherine (Cathy) Joyce Pomerleau has ended abruptly here on earth to the great sadness of all of us left behind but knowing Cathy, she is exploring another dimension with her exuberance and curiosity. Cathy was the loving wife of Gilles Pomerleau for 41 years. Cathy was the proud mom of Justin (Amanda) and Evan (Kayla), grandmother to Austin, Aayden, Logan, Ethan, EJ, and Ryder. She will be deeply missed by her fur babies, Nugget and Pixie.

Cathy was born in Sudbury to George and Marion Edwards (both predeceased). She is survived by her siblings Dale Edwards (Colleen, predeceased), Pat Edwards and Russ Edwards (Darlene). Predeceased by her sister Linda Forget and brother, Ken Edwards. Dear sister-in-law to Helene Francis (Raymond) and Anne Savard (Ponch). She Leaves behind two aunts Dorothy and Annie, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. At the time of her passing, Cathy worked at the Co-Op in Verner where she had made new friends.

Everyone who was fortunate to experience Cathy’s kindness knows how much it meant to her to be able to help. Over the years Cathy was able to provide shelter to those being abused, care for teenagers in need of support, animals who needed rescuing, and family members who were able to stay connected because of Cathy’s perseverance. Giving to others was a specialty of Cathy’s as she always seemed to know when someone needed something.

Cathy’s love of horses and riding carried her through several years of her life providing sheer enjoyment from the freedom of riding, definitely some bruises, bites and broken bones as well. Even with all the injuries and pain, Cathy continued to ride. Projects – so many projects, too many to count but these projects allowed Cathy to express her imagination, creativity and enjoyment of building something special from a simple idea she thought of or saw somewhere. Cathy showed no fear when it came to trying new activities and always seemed to embrace new adventures and mastered new skills, including all those power tools she learned to use. Cathy possessed an incredible gift for making crafts from scraps and things found on their property. A walk around their property showcases her talents as everywhere you look, there is a craft, garden or something Cathy created. It was really impressive to see her in action because when she put her mind to something, nothing stopped her. Gilles never knew what he’d come home to when Cathy’s creative juices were flowing – always a surprise!

Come celebrate the life and love of Cathy Pomerleau on Saturday, August 27th, 2022 from 11:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m at the Warren Golden Age Club, 40 Rutland Avenue, Warren. Come and share stories, have some laughs, tears and enjoy a light lunch with Gilles, Justin, Evan and the rest of the family.

In closing, we will miss Cathy’s kindness, her wit, laughter, and bravery. This Quote befits Cathy and her life lived.
“A limb has fallen from the family tree that says
Grieve not for me
Remember THE BEST TIMES,
The LAUGHTER, the SONG,
The GOOD LIFE I lived when I was strong”
