Obituary for Deborah Dokis (Fraser)

Dokis, Deborah (née Fraser) 1955 - 2023

August 31st at the age of 68, surrounded by her family, our mother left the pain and suffering of this world to be in peace and comfort in the arms of her most beloved ones that made the journey before her.

Daughter of the late Douglas and of the late Edna (née Woito). Loving mother of Pamela Goulais (Yvon), Evania Dokis (Jon Restoule), and James Dokis Jr. (Emily). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Joshua (Jasmine), Trena (Michel), and her great-granddaughters Jaedyn and Lexa. Dear sister of Judy Lamontagne (late Raymond) and David "Tookie" Fraser (Nicole).

Debbie was a big part of many initiatives within the community over the years, from building homes, cultural and countless hours spent in research at the Archives of Canada, retracing families and histories for our Dokis First Nation peoples.

Thank you to her special friend and confidante David Jones for being there and sharing his camp. It was always her most favorite and serene place to just be. She will also be missed by her co-pilot Walter Dog and his early morning visits.

The family would like to thank her Paramed Nurse Kimberly Hughes and Dr. Julie Breton Fortin, your compassion helped us all. Debbie is free and at peace.

As per the family's request, no celebration of life will be held. Funeral arrangements in care of the Theoret-Bourgeois Funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls.
