Chevrier, Irène (née McLeod) 1930 - 2019

The family announces with sorrow her death in North Bay, Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 at the age of 89 years.

Daughter of the late Louis McLeod and of the late Catherine McLeod (née Fisher). Wife of the late Harvey Chevrier. Dear mother of Ryan (Donna) and Rhea (Robert). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Athena, Nickolas, Melanie, Jessica, Chelsey, Lisa, Taylor and Ashton as well as her great-grandchildren Brent, Ava, Blake, Rowan, Skylar, Avery and Lincoln. Sister of Eddy McLeod, Molly Lambert (late Rene), Lena Chevrier (late Ben) and Yvonne Beaucage (Rudy). Predeceased by her siblings Jim (late Zelda), Stanley, Tom (Anne), Reno, Josephine McLeod-Chevrier (late Clarence), Eileen Stevens, Linda-Lou McLeod and Dorothy Southwind. Also predeceased by her very close friends Adeline and Jeanne Trivett.

Irene and her twin sister Eileen were born at Misquito Creek, just east of Sturgeon Falls, on Nipissing First Nation lands September 29th 1930. She began her career cooking at lumber camps many years ago travelling with her husband Harvey. She would carry on this career working at tourist camps notably Memquisit Lodge located on the West Arm of Lake Nipissing. She spent the better part of her life working at Memquisit Lodge which she and Harvey also called home. She was treated like family by the owners Adeline Trivett "Mother" and her daughter Jeanne Trivett. Many tourists from all over Ontario, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio enjoyed a home cooked meal from Irene at Memquisit Lodge. She enjoyed the interactions and friendships with the tourists and looked forward to their return year after year. She will be sadly missed by many.

The family will receive friends at Holy Spirit Church, Garden Village, Friday, December 6th, 2019 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Funeral arrangements in care of Theoret Bourgeois Funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls. Memorial Donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
