Jan was an inspiration and a role model to me since I was 15 years old. She was an amazing teacher – her sense of humour, her openness and her keen intelligence all made such a mark. Her presence was a gift to all of those lucky enough to learn from her. She touched so many lives so positively. In more recent years, her friendship across the miles has meant so much to both of us. Our deepest sympathies go out to Madeleine and to her friends and family. Jan was a very special person and we will forever treasure her memory. Rita & Janet
