Obituary for Jean-Yves Plante

Plante, Jean-Yves (1949 – 2022)

The family announces with sorrow his death in Verner, Monday October 17, 2022 at the age of 73 years. Son of the late Gabriel and of Anita (née Gagnon) Plante. Beloved husband of Jeannine (née Pilon). Dear father of Alain (Lynn), Adrian (Inez), and Julie Plante. Sadly missed and lovingly remebered by his grandchildren Kyle, Keyanna, Chloe, and Allegra as well as by his many nieces and nephews. Dear brother of Giles, Dianne Johnson (Brian), Norm (Patricia), Jacques (Louise), and Noëlla Guy (Michel).

Jean-Yves was always the first to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He was a real people person who was known for being kind, reliable and generous to everyone, even strangers he just met.

John worked at INCO from 1967 until his retirement in 1997 at many of their locations throughout Sudbury. On other days he enjoyed working with his brothers, sons, and nephews on customer’s homes. If that was not taking enough of his time, he volunteered for many organizations and causes throughout his life. He was an active member of the Warren Lions Club as well as the Club D’Amite in Verner, Ontario. He truly enjoyed being a part of the International Plow Festival in West Nipissing 2019.

Together with his wife Jeannine they enjoyed traveling, especially taking Caribbean cruises. They made many friends on their travels and were known for their dancing. He was a member of The Verner Golf Club and enjoyed men’s night with his cousins, brothers, and many friends. John was a lifelong hunter and fisher who was known for his excellent outdoorsmanship of which he loved to teach to his grandson Kyle.

Being around John was all about special days like barbecues with his children and grandchildren at their home on the lake. Everyone will always remember driving up their road and being greeted by a big smile and a warm hug. He was always puttering around the yard in anticipation of his next guest to arrive.

WE are going to miss you greatly, with love from your family and extended family. Until we meet again.
