Obituary for Rachel Serré (née Forgette)

Serré, Rachel (née Forgette) 1925-2019

Passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years. Daughter of the late Bruno Forgette and of the late Jeanne Ménard. Predeceased by her husband Roland Serré (1925-2005). She leaves behind her children: Suzanne (late Jean Maisonneuve) of North Bay, Michel (Claire Perreault) of Cornwall, Chrystine (Marc Séguin) of Beamsville and Mario of Laval, Québec; her grandchildren, Alain Maisonneuve (Micheline Comeau) and Kim Maisonneuve (Marco Lafortune), Eric Serré (Kelly Holmes) and Luc Serré (Kimberly Summerfield), Mélanie Séguin (Keith Mabee), André Séguin and Alexis Serré; her great-grandchildren, Emilie, Marc, Mathieu, Etienne, Devin, Emily, Zachary, Evan, Charlotte et Pascale; her sisters Gaetanne (St Cyr), Anne (Hotte) and her brother Ghislain (Ginette) all of Gatineau, Québec, her sisters-in-law Gilberte (late Arsidas Serré) and Félicia (late Dorias Serré). She also had a sister, the late Jéromine (Poirier) and a brother, late Ephrem, who died at a young age.
Numerous nieces and nephews will remember her fondly. She worked many years as a teacher, starting in 1943, notably working in schools around Désaulniers, Field and River Valley. Gifted with a phenomenal memory, she shared her love of reading, of history and of geography with all who knew her. The family will receive friends at the Théoret Bourgeois funeral home, Saturday, May 11th, 2019 from 9am to 11am. A chapel service will follow at 11am at the funeral home. Donations to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
