Bastien, Robert (1930 - 2021)

The family announces with great sorrow his death in Sudbury, Saturday, January 30th, 2021 at the age of 90 years. Son of the late Élias Bastien and of the late Annie Bastien (née Pitre). Beloved husband of 62 years of Aline Bastien (née Paquette). Loving father of Rick (Micheline). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandson Yves (Paige). Predeceased by his siblings Rollande Daoust (late Laurier), Georgette Lalonde (late Lionel), Jean Marc (Late Ella) and Bernard (Lorraine). Also predeceased by his step brother Ernest Paquette (Jeannine), and his step sisters Florence, Soini (Richard), Yvonne Houle (Carmel) , Germaine Langdon (Roy) , Yvette Lecuyer ( Lucien) , Therese Landry ( Denis). Survived by his step brother Rodolph Paquette (Aline Belanger).

Bob retired from the Sudbury Regional Police in 1992 after 38 years of diligent service. He was a recognized and decorated Veteran of the Korean War and an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 553, Chelmsford as well as the War Pensioners of Canada. His community of Azilda was very important to him and he participated in groups and events that helped benefit his community such as the Club 50 of Azilda. A proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6258 Vallee Centre and in the fourth degree of Msgr Adolph Proulx Assembly. Bob was very dignified and reverent in exemplifying strict protocol when he acted as a Parade Marshal for Veterans of Knights of Columbus Parades in the streets of Greater Sudbury.

Due to pandemic conditions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements in care of Theoret Bourgeois Funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls. Donations to a charity of your choosing would be appreciated.
