Sauvé, Rolland (1940 - 2023)
Rolland Raymond Sauvé age 82 of Sturgeon Falls passed away peacefully in hospital on Feb10, 2023. He was surrounded by family.
Rolland was a caring and loyal husband and father, an avid fisherman, an accomplished craftsman and an award winning wild bird carver who carved wild birds and songbirds for ducks unlimited competitions and many private collectors. Rolland’s carved blue jays and intricate eagle feathers were a favourite of Ted Nolan of the Toronto Blue Jays and he was featured in carving magazines and clubs.
Rolland’s name is contributed to mid-century modern buildings in Southern Ontario where he practiced his architectural engineering degree. He was the Manager of North Bay and Parry Sound District Housing authority for 23 years and consulted for the province, making change for the better in the public housing system in the North.
Mr. Sauvé is survived by his wife of 62 years Sharon Arlene Sauvé and his daughters Janice Emanuel [Howard] and Liana Blaskievich. Grand children Meaghan Emanuel, Sydnie and Jack Blaskievich. Pre-deceased by son Randy Sauvé.
Mr. Sauvé chose not to hold a traditional funeral and instead, the family will raise a toast to his life at an intimate summer gathering.
