Obituary for Yvette Cockburn (Godfroid)

Yvette  Cockburn (Godfroid)
Peacefully deceased at Au Château in Sturgeon Falls on January 24th at the age of 91. Daughter of the late Marguerite and Lucien Godfroid, she was married to the late Flight Officer George Cockburn, air gunner, RCAF, killed in action and later, for many years, engaged to the late Sgt. Don Holmes, OPP. Loving and devoted mother of George Cockburn Jr. (Cécile Nadeau), cherished grandmother of Carol (David Delenardo), John (Chantal Kolp) and Louise Coburn and great-grandmother of Cassandra, Tristan and Gabriella Delenardo. She will be lovingly missed by her brother Lucien Godfroid Jr. (Lilianne). Predeceased by her sisters Yvonne (Thomas Pestolis) and Suzanne (Lionel Marleau). She is survived by brother-in-law, Jack Cockburn and sister-in-law, Lena Cockburn. She is also survived by her siblings children: Marcelle Marleau (André Payeur), Gisèle Marleau (Michel Pelletier) and Robert Marleau; Margaret Pestolis (Jean-Pierre Carré) and Allyson Godfroid (Clifford Pennel) and by numerous Cockburn nieces and nephews. She worked for Canada Post in Sturgeon Falls for over 36 years and was known as a hard worker, receiving in 1958 a special award from the Postmaster General of Canada for services rendered. The family would like to thank her devoted brother Lucien Godfroid and her niece Margaret Pestolis for their loving care. Many thanks go to the palliative care team and staff on the third floor of Au Château for their support and attention. A private family service will be held on May 12th 2012.
