Always Smiling

My grand-mother was a special lady, and she was always smiling. Since hearing the news of her passing, I've been reminiscing, remembering the summers at camp, the visits over the years...and the one element that stands out for me is her constant smile. I never saw her upset or angry or even sad. I know she must have felt those emotions, but she always made an effort to be positive and cheerful whenever we were together. She suffered a lot in her last year, so in a way, it's a blessing that she was finally allowed to ascend into Heaven. My only regret is that I didn't take the time to visit her over the last few months, there was always something going on with work or family that prevented my going, but in hindsight, I should have just gone. There's a french expression: "Qui remet a demain, trouve malheur en chemin" which means if you put things off, you'll come to regret it...Today, I truly understand those words. Rest in peace, grand-maman.
