Mon Oncle

I was really saddened to hear about Oncle Romeo over the last week. He has always been one of my favorite family members. I got to know him well having spent so much time over the course of my life going to Verner, Sturgeon Falls and Grassy Lake. When I was young he always went out of his way to take me fishing and to teach me things. He has always been a big help to my parents and recently after my dad passed away he helped my mom when she went to Grassy Lake during the summer every year. I always looked forward to seeing him in the springtime; I usually go up to Grassy Lake with my mom for the May 24 long weekend. Recently I've been taking my daughter along and he took her on several ATV bike rides over the last few years. She had a blast! He and I recently drove on ATV over to Cucumber lake a couple of years ago. We had a good conversation about life, parenting and the Temagami area. Last year he and tante Simone drove up to Grassy Lake over the May 24 weekend just for the afternoon to see everyone. It was the last time I would see him. I have always been amazed at his energy level, even after his initial cancer fight so many years ago. He was a fighter and I never once heard him complain about his health battles. He was a dependable, strong, honest, very funny, friendly, hard working and caring person. The kind of person you want to know and love to be around. A true SOLID person in every way. My thoughts go out to tante Simone, Pierre, Lynn, Nicole, their husbands/wives and all the grand kids. I will miss Mon Oncle Romeo.
